Military experts argue about Kadyrov fighters’ role in military operation in Ukraine

Information about the presence of Chechen fighters in Ukraine looks reliable, says Dmitry Gudkov, FSB Colonel in reserve. He suggests that natives of Chechnya were entrusted with participating in assault on Kiev.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on February 23, a video was posted in the account of the aide to the leader of Chechnya, which gave rise to a rumour that Ramzan Kadyrov had arrived in the territory of Ukraine or Donbass.

According to former State Duma member Gennady Gudkov, the “Yug” (South) battalion has been assigned an important function in the special military operation of the Russian armed forces in Ukraine. “But it is not Ramzan Kadyrov who will direct their actions ... He cannot be there and give orders, as he does not have such powers,” Gennady Gudkov said.

If Chechen militaries take part in “establishing order” in the Ukrainian cities that are under the control of the Russian troops, this will only complicate the situation, the expert suggests. “The local population will not be delighted with the presence of the Chechen militaries. This will be another annoying factor,” the expert explained.

If the Chechen battalion is sent to Ukraine, then only to perform the functions of the military police, experts Alexander Perendjiev and Vasily Dandykin believe.
