Advocate tells about Magamadov's and Isaev's calm reaction to verdict

Salekh Magamadov and Ismail Isaev have taken the announced verdict calmly; they understood from the very beginning that the verdict would assume imprisonment; and justice could only be achieved at the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR), their advocate, Alexander Nemov, has stated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 22, a court in Chechnya sentenced Salekh Magamadov to eight years and Ismail Isaev to six years in prison. The case against the brothers was fabricated, the advocate asserts.

The brothers Magamadov and Isaev are accused of aiding a militant from Aslan Byutukaev's grouping. According to investigators, they provided him with bread, juice, tea and chocolate. The Amnesty International (AI) demanded to release the brothers, noting that belonging to the LGBT community is not a crime.

The court session on Magamadov's and Isaev's case was very short, because only the operative part of the verdict was read out, said the advocate. In his opinion, it was a little "strange."

After the announcement of the verdict, the brothers' aunts were upset, while the brothers themselves took the court's judgement calmly, Mr Nemov has noted.
