At action in Stepanakert, Karabakh residents demand reunification with Armenia

Nagorno-Karabakh activists have marked the 34th anniversary of the liberation movement by laying flowers and wreaths at the Memorial Complex in Stepanakert. It is necessary to consolidate the Armenians and return to the main idea of the national liberation movement – reunification with Armenia, the activists have stated.

Artak Beglaryan, the State Minister of Karabakh, has noted that "February 20 is the day of the revival of Artsakh and the start of reunification with the homeland (Armenia, – note of the "Caucasian Knot")."

"Only after reunification with Armenia we can talk about the revival of Artsakh (the historical name of Nagorno-Karabakh, – note of the "Caucasian Knot")," he said.

"I believe that the Artsakh movement is one of the most successful, if not the most successful, among national liberation movements in the world ... We managed to withstand the war, and we managed to save part of our country," Sergey Shakhverdyan, an activist, has stated, adding that "one should not talk about defeat while the fight is still going on."

"Our movement that has united all Armenians around this idea has certainly succeeded. It achieved its goal, I think, with the liberation of Berdzor on May 18, 1992, with the restoration of land link with Armenia," Mger Arutyunyan, a historian, has stated, adding: "We have no right to despair, because if we want to live in our homeland, we must fight to the end for our rights."
