Growth in number of signatures to petition for Kadyrov's resignation slows down

The growth rate of signatures to the petition for the resignation of Ramzan Kadyrov from the post of the head of Chechnya has slowed down significantly compared to the first days after the publication of the petition, the "Caucasian Knot" has analyzed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Ilya Yashin, a Moscow oppositional politician, has launched the above petition for Kadyrov's resignation. In his petition, Ilya Yashin justified his demand, among other things, by threats pronounced by Chechen leadership to the Yangulbaev family.

Read the “Caucasian Knot” reference material “How Yangulbaevs became Kadyrov’s enemies” to find how the conflict began, what accusations Ramzan Kadyrov voiced, what the Yangulbaev family answered the leader of Chechnya, and what role in the development of the situation was played by an opposition Telegram channel.

The petition addressed to President Putin was posted on the Change.org portal on February 6; and by the morning of February 8, more than 100,000 people had signed it, and by February 12, there were more than 200,000 signatories.

During the first days after the launch of the petition, the number of signatures grew rather quickly. Thus, by 2:20 p.m. Moscow time on February 7, 18 hours after the initial publication, 21,957 people signed the petition. Already nine hours later, by 11:50 p.m. Moscow time on February 7, the number of signatures went up by 59,533, reaching 81,490. And by 10:00 a.m. Moscow time on February 8, the petition gained 101,588 signatures, that is, 20,098 people signed it within 19 hours.

However, in the past few days, the growth rate in the number of signatures to the petition has slowed down significantly. Thus, by 11:50 p.m. Moscow time on February 15, the number of signatures had increased by 2928, reaching a total of 216,235. By 7:00 p.m. Moscow time on February 16, the petition had gained 218,056 signatures; thus, over the past 20 hours, the surplus made just 1821.
