Karachay-Cherkessia becomes worst region of Southern Russia in terms of quality of life

In the rating of the Russian regions in terms of quality of life, the Krasnodar Territory took the fifth place, and Karachay-Cherkessia became the 84th.

Today, on February 14, the rating of the Russian regions in terms of quality of life has been released by the RIA “Novosti”. The rating is based on the data presented by the Federal State Statistics Service (known as Rosstat), the Ministry for Public Health, the Ministry of Finance, the Central Bank, and other sources for 2020-2021. When calculating the score, the RIA “Rating” took into account 67 indicators, combined into 11 groups, including the level of income of the population, employment rate and labour market, housing conditions, and others. The maximum possible score is 100, the minimum is one.

Among the regions of Southern Russia, the highest place in the rating (fifth) was occupied by the Krasnodar Territory, which gained 67.327 points. The Rostov Region took only the 14th place with 58.863 points.

The best position in the rating among the republics of Northern Caucasus is occupied by Dagestan, which stays on the 69th place (39.348 points). Chechnya takes the 74th place (35.820 points), Kabardino-Balkaria – the 75th place (34.914 points), North Ossetia – the 76th place (33.929 points), and Ingushetia – the 82nd place (29.741 points).

The worst indicator in 2021 in terms of quality of life among the regions of the Southern Federal District (SFD) and the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) was demonstrated by Karachay-Cherkessia. The republic took only the penultimate, 84th place, with 25.542 points.
