Dagestani believers ignore restrictions on Friday prayers

On February 11, collective Friday prayers were held in Makhachkala mosques, despite the recommendation of the "Rospotrebnadzor" (Russian Federal Service for Supervision in the Field of Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing) not to hold worship services with believers' crowds. The latter doubt that the imposed restrictions contribute to a decrease in coronavirus incidence statistics in the region.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 6, the operative headquarters marked a deterioration of the COVID-19 situation in Dagestan. On January 27, the "Rospotrebnadzor" recommended to stop mass worships in the republic. According to the Stopcoronavirus.rf website, the total number of COVID-19 infection cases in Dagestan has gone up to 80,710.

On Friday, a resident of Makhachkala named Kurban said that mosque visitors failed to observe the mask regime, and during the collective prayer "also failed to observe the social distance." He could not explain why, contrary to the recommendation of the "Rospotrebnadzor", he decided to visit the collective Friday prayer.

According to Zaur, a resident of Makhachkala, the restrictions will bring no effect, as the residents of Dagestan have ceased to comply with the measures that at the beginning of the pandemic curbed the spread of coronavirus. And the disease itself is now "spreading regardless of restrictions." The man has also confessed that he had stopped wearing a mask and maintaining the social distance.
