Yerevan: activists hold action in support of political prisoners

At the building of the representative office of the European Union (EU) in Yerevan, several dozen activists of the youth wing of the ARF (Armenian Revolutionary Federation) "Dashnaktsutyun" have held an action, expressing support for political prisoners and urging the EU to pay attention to the human rights situation in Armenia.

"We are here to pay tribute to the democracy that once functioned in Armenia, and which has died prematurely as a result of the actions of the current ruling regime and Ms Andrea Wiktorin, the EU Ambassador," the "News.am" quotes one of the protesters as saying.

The protesters hung a sign with a black ribbon and the inscription "Democracy" on the fence of the EU Delegation.

"This woman is silent seeing the failures of democracy in Armenia. We have friends who are tried under various cases – political prisoners," another protester has stated.
