Dagestani woman needs help of a psychologist after her attempted kidnapping in Moscow

Aishat, a native of Dagestan, whom her relatives tried to kidnap and return home, stays in a depressed state, and she has been assigned the help of a psychologist, the crisis centre reports. The police have launched an investigation into the incident, an advocate of the young woman says.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that relatives tried to kidnap in Moscow a young woman who had run away from domestic violence in Dagestan. Passers-by called the police, and all participants of the incident were detained. Activists of the crisis centre “Fortress” and advocate Dmitry Zakhvatov managed to secure the release of the young woman. She wrote a complaint against her brother and father and then went to a hospital, where she was diagnosed with brain concussion and bruises.

The young woman contacted the crisis centre in October 2021 after she ran away from her family. She said that her relatives controlled and tortured her. The crisis centre “Fortress” helped her with asylum, provided her with a psychologist and therapist, and paid for medicines. The young woman found a job and began to look for housing. But her father and brother managed to track her down, and they began to beat her, trying to kidnap her right in the street, to which passers-by reacted, the crisis centre “Fortress” reported.

According to an activist of the crisis centre “Fortress”, the young woman left the house because her relatives wanted to force her to marry a distant relative, controlled and beat her.

Let us remind you that in Russia, crisis centres are in a vulnerable position from the point of view of the law. The law does not protect guests of the crisis centres from kidnappings by law enforcers at a request of relatives, human rights defenders say.
