Abubakar Yangulbaev leaves Georgia

Abubakar Yangulbaev, a former lawyer of the "Committee against Torture" (CaT)*, said that he left Georgia for Europe because of security threats.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 20, Zarema Musaeva, the wife of a retired federal judge, Saidi Yangulbaev, was forcibly taken away by Chechen law enforcers to Grozny. Ramzan Kadyrov accused the Yangulbayevs of supporting terrorism and demanded that the entire family be detained and punished or killed as terrorists' accomplices.

After Kadyrov's threats, Saidi Yangulbaev and his daughter left Russia. Abubakar Yangulbaev, a Musaeva's son, a lawyer, left Russia in late 2021. Ibragim Yangulbaev, Musaeva's another son, has been put on the wanted list within a case of justifying terrorism. You can learn about Kadyrov's the accusations and what the Yangulbaevs have answered him from the reference material of the "Caucasian Knot" entitled "How Yangulbaevs became Kadyrov's enemies".

"The decision to leave for Europe was recommended to me by the experts who understand security," Abubakar Yangulbaev said in an interview with the "We Can Explain" Telegram channel. He received a Czech visa and immediately flew out of Tbilisi.

Yangulbaev has admitted that he did not want to leave the Caucasus, because he "likes to live in the mountains."

In Tbilisi, a group of Caucasians began searching for Abubakar Yangulbaev, his acquaintance has explained. According to his version, for a week they visited various public places in the capital of Georgia and shadowed Yangulbaev.
