Social media users outraged by tender for Mercedes car purchase for 9 million roubles from budget of North Ossetia

After the information about the state contract for the procurement of a car by the authorities of North Ossetia for 9 million roubles at the expense of budget funds was released, Instagram users reminded the authorities of the republic of the social problems that have accumulated in North Ossetia.

An auto depot serving the administration of the leader and the government of North Ossetia has concluded a state contract with JSC “Mercedes-Benz RUS” for the supply of a Mercedes-Benz V250 car made in Spain. The contract, concluded on December 27, amounts to 8,960,000 roubles with the republican budget as a source of funding. According to the information on the State Procurement website, the contract is to be executed before January 31.

On January 20, the information about the above state contract was posted on the “region15.info” Instagram public account. Social media users noted that the purchase of luxury cars was carried out amid unresolved problems in the republic. “They should have bought and allocated new buses. You can hardly get to Ardon by bus, because it is always broken,” wrote user 888_goa. “Well, on other hand, people are transported to villages in buses with broken heating systems. They must have been confused people with penguins,” commented user az_am7153.

In their comments, other social media users note that the money could be allocated to solve problems with water supply. “They are short of money to ensure water supply to the Alagir District, but there is a lot of money in the budget for purchasing expensive minivans. Mr Menyailo (the leader of North Ossetia, – note of the ‘Caucasian Knot), please, explain how should we understand that?” asked user vassazhelesnova.

Social media users also recalled other unresolved social problems in the republic. “Instead of buying expensive cars, they would better help children and pensioners,” suggested user barkuevsultan.
