Soldier perishes in Azerbaijan

Djavidan Mamedli, a conscript soldier, has perished due to careless handling firearms; an investigation has been launched, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence (MoD) has reported, not specifying the dwelling settlement where the accident occurred.

"We hereby confirm the death of Mamedli Djavidan Abdulaziz oglu, an active military serviceman of the Azerbaijani Army, that happened as a result of his gross violation of the rules for handling firearms," the "Report.az" has quoted a message from the Azerbaijani MoD.

After the serviceman's death, a criminal case was initiated; an inquiry is underway, the APA News Agency has specified today with reference to the Azerbaijani MoD.

The "Caucasian Knot" has also reported that on December 9, it became known that on the border of the Kelbadjar District with Armenia, Asif Aliev, a soldier of the Azerbaijani Army, was killed in a shootout with Armenian militaries.
