Nagorno-Karabakh accuses Azerbaijan of a shelling attack on a border village

The Azerbaijani armed forces opened fire in the direction of the village of Karmir Shouka (the Azerbaijani name is Qırmızı Bazar, – note of the “Caucasian Knot”) of the Martuni District, and as a result, a civilian car parked near kindergarten caught fire, the press service for the Ministry of Defence (MoD) of Nagorno-Karabakh reported.

The Nagorno-Karabakh MoD emphasizes that the reports of the Azerbaijani media stating people from the car were shelling the positions of the Azerbaijani army are incorrect, the “News-Armenia” reports.

A kindergarten in Karmir Shuka came under fire. Children were evacuated, and none of them was injured, the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent was informed by Anait Sargsyan, a kindergarten worker.

“We were lucky that we had a quiet hour at the time of shelling, and the children stayed in their beds and were not out for a walk,” Anait Sargsyan said.

The Ministry of Defence of Azerbaijan announces that the reports about the shelling attack on the village of Qırmızı Bazar by the Azerbaijani armed forces and a burned-out car are a lie. According to the Ministry of Defence of Azerbaijan, no fire at all has been opened in the mentioned direction today. The Azerbaijani army does not shoot at the civilian population, the Ministry of Defence of Azerbaijan emphasizes.

The villages of Karmir Shouka and Tagavard became border villages as a result of the aggravation of the Karabakh conflict in the autumn of 2020. Azerbaijani military checkpoints are located near the above-mentioned villages. A base of the Russian peacekeeping contingent is located in Karmir Shouka.
