Police prevents Giyas Ibragimov's action at Aliev's residence in Baku

In front of the residence of the President of Azerbaijan in Baku, Giyas Ibragimov, a youth activist, took a canister with some liquid out of his backpack, then took a lighter in his hand and went to the residence building. Presidential security guards took the canister and lighter away from him, and detained the activist.

Ibragimov was going to protest against the non-payment of the compensation awarded to him by the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR). President's securities have stopped the Ibragimov's action, while pressure was exerted on the journalists who were covering the action, the "Turan" News Agency reported on January 7.

A video clip of Giyas Ibragimov's action was posted on January 7 in the Facebook page of the "Azadlyg" outlet.

The clip shows Ibragimov walking down the street with a backpack, taking out a canister and pouring the liquid over himself. Then the activist takes a lighter in his hand and heads to the building. However, president's security agents managed to take the canister and lighter away from him and detain the activist.
