Azerbaijani border guard arrested for killing three of his colleagues

Junior Sergeant Elkhan Avazly is charged with killing three border guards, and he is taken into custody, the General Prosecutor’s Office of Azerbaijan reports.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on January 3, Elkhan Avazly (also referred to in the media as Evezli and Avazli), Junior Sergeant of the State Border Guard Service, who was put on the wanted list after the killing of three border guards, was detained in the Lachin District.

The Fizuli Military Court pronounced against Junior Sergeant Elkhan Avazly a pre-trial restriction measure in the form of arrest, the General Prosecutor’s Office of Azerbaijan reported.

“Elkhan Avazly was charged under Article 120.2.7 of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan. According to the decision of the Fizuli Military Court, a pre-trial restriction measure was pronounced in the form of arrest,” the APA quotes the General Prosecutor’s Office of Azerbaijan as reporting.

The charge has been brought against Elkhan Avazly today, the “Haqqin.az” reports. Meanwhile, the term of the suspected border guard’s arrest is not disclosed.

Let us remind you that the incident took place on the evening of January 2. Three border guards were shot dead at the Azerbaijani border checkpoint “Gubadly”. The attacker threw down his gun and fled. According to the investigators’ version, the fire was opened by Junior Sergeant Elkhan Avazly, and he was put on the wanted list.
