In Abkhazia, region administration head removed from office after shooting in Sukhumi

The President of Abkhazia removed from office Beslan Bigvava, the head of the Ochamchira District, who was involved as a suspect in a case on shooting and wounding a person in a Sukhumi restaurant on the New Year’s Eve.

“To suspend Beslan V. Bigvava, the head of the Ochamchira district administration, from his duties during the preliminary investigation,” ordered the President of Abkhazia in his decree as quoted by the press service.

According to a post on the Telegram channel of the President of Abkhazia’s press service, by the same decree, Aslan Bzhaniya entrusted the duties of the head of the Ochamchira district administration to Artimon Gabelaya, the first deputy head of the district administration.

Beslan Bigvava has been suspended from duties for the duration of the investigation in the case on the shooting incident, which occurred in Sukhumi on January 1, the TASS reports today.

According to the preliminary information from the Sukhumi Interior Department, Beslan Bigvava shot at one of the city restaurants that night. A man got a gunshot wound to his thigh, who was then hospitalized to the Republican hospital, the “Apsnypress” reported on January 2.
