FSB reports about detentions and searches in Karachay-Cherkessia

A case on terrorism is under investigation in Karachay-Cherkessia after a special operation in which two suspected militants were killed. Searches and detentions were carried out within the investigation into the case, the FSB Department for Karachay-Cherkessia reported.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on November 26, a counterterrorist operation (CTO) legal regime was introduced in Karachay-Cherkessia in connection with the search for militants in the Karachay District. Law enforcers killed two armed militants. According to the FSB, the suspects were plotting a terror act.

After the militants had been killed, a criminal case was instituted in connection with terrorist crimes, the FSB Department for Karachay-Cherkessia reported.

“The persons who were aware of the preparation of terrorist crimes have been detained. Their questioning is underway,” the FSB Department for Karachay-Cherkessia reported as quoted by the “Interfax”.

Law enforcers carried out searches, during which they seized components for the manufacture of explosives, a flag of an international terrorist organization, and other evidences testifying to the involvement of the killed suspects in the preparation of a terror act and participation in the activities of a terrorist organization, the “Interfax” reported.
