Case of Dagestanis killed in Chechnya returned to Grozny

The Russia's Supreme Court (SC) has found gross violations at the consideration of the cases of the residents of Dagestan killed in Chechnya. Already after the death of eight young people, they were accused of law enforcers' attempted murders. The SC has returned the case to Grozny for a new trial. Casualties' relatives demand that the case be considered outside Chechnya.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 10, 2021, the SC of Chechnya found the assassinated Dagestanis guilty of encroaching on law enforcers' lives and illegal arms trafficking, but stopped the criminal case against them because of their death. On June 17, the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) communicated the complaint on this case.

Neither advocates nor the casualties' relatives believe that in Chechnya, where the abducted natives of Dagestan had been shot dead, a fair trial is possible, Aminat, the mother of the assassinated Kamil Djamalutdinov, has stated.

The casualties' relatives have added that over the years of the investigation, law enforcers continue exhibiting attention to them. "Various investigators came, asked about all family members, and took personal data," Aminat Djamalutdinova has added.
