Resident of Kaspiysk convicted in a case on involvement in IS

In Rostov-on-Don, a court found a resident of Dagestan guilty of plotting an attack on police officers and participating in a terrorist organization and sentenced him to 11 years of imprisonment.

Since December 2019, 34-year-old Elvin Agadadashev, while staying in Kaspiysk, has been preparing to take part in the activities of the “Islamic State” (IS, a terrorist organization, banned in Russia by the court, – note of the “Caucasian Knot”), the press service for the Southern District Military Court reports.

Elvin Agadadashev also suggested his two acquaintances to create an illegal armed formation (IAF) and attack the police, but they refused. “The defendant planned to hit police officers with a car. He also planned to attack them using an axe and a knife,” the press service for the Southern District Military Court explains.

In 2017, Elvin Agadadashev got a pistol and rounds for it from his acquaintance. In February 2020, the man was detained with them.

The defendant pleaded not guilty.

The “Caucasian Knot” has also reported that on November 15, the Military Court of Appeal refused to mitigate the verdict against Murad Abdullagadjiev, a resident of Dagestan, who was sentenced to 11 years of imprisonment for participating in the “Islamic State”, banned in Russia by the court.

  • Compensation decrease for illegal prosecution violates rights of KBR resident

The court ruling, which awarded Madin Gubzhokov compensation of 30,000 roubles for unlawful criminal prosecution, is incomparable with the moral harm caused by the actions of Azamat Kyaov, a former law enforcer. The amount is ridiculous and should be appealed against, lawyers and human rights defenders have stated.
