Week of October 25-31 passed without victims of armed conflict in Northern Caucasus

During the week from October 25 to October 31, 2021, during the ongoing armed conflict in Northern Caucasus, no information about casualties or wounded persons was reported. These are the results of the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other sources.

Case of preparing terror act in Stavropol Territory

On October 22, the Russian FSB reported on the arrest in the Stavropol Territory of a supporter of the "Islamic State" (IS), a terrorist organization banned in Russia. According to investigators, he was preparing a terror act against the district transport infrastructure. The court arrested the man for two months.

The FSB's version about the prepared terror act causes distrust due to the implausibility and information scarcity, said Arsen Sarkisov, a representative of the entrepreneurs' ombudsperson of the Stavropol Territory. He explained that law enforcers often fabricate cases for the sake of self-promotion and additional income.

A similar opinion was expressed by the lawyer, Vitaly Zubenko. "We are accustomed to scanty information, which is impossible to verify. The population is forced to take their word for it. The expectation is that people who are so devoted to television and the official law enforcers' messages will not verify facts," he has stated.
