Special operation in Stavropol continues trend for uninformative reports about prevented terror acts

The FSB’s version about the preparation of a terror act in the Stavropol Territory arouses mistrust because of the implausible and scare information disseminated by the law enforcement body, note lawyers and journalists interviewed by the “Caucasian Knot”.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on October 22, the FSB reported on the detention in the Stavropol Territory of a supporter of the “Islamic State” (IS, a terrorist organization, banned in Russia by the court, – note of the “Caucasian Knot). According to the investigators’ version, the suspect was plotting a terror act at the transport infrastructure facilities of the region.

The FSB’s version of the suspected terrorist’s goals raises doubts, notes Elena Suslova, a journalist for the newspaper “Otkrytaya” in Stavropol. “There are no transport hubs in Stavropol. Two or three carriages can pass through the city at most. The FSB report raises great doubts. If a terror act was being prepared, then not at transport hubs,” Elena Suslova told the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent. According to the journalist, the law enforcers hide the information about where the man lived and where the search was carried out, which is also alarming.

Arsen Sarkisov, the representative of the Ombudsperson for the rights of entrepreneurs of the Stavropol Territory, also shares the opinion that the scarce supply of information testifies to the fabrication of the case. He believes that if the FSB had real evidence of an impending terror act, the information would be replicated in the media and indisputable facts of the suspect’s guilt would be presented.

According to Arsen Sarkisov, law enforcers are fabricating cases for the sake of promotion and additional remuneration.
