After riots in Vladikavkaz colony, 36 inmates transferred to Dagestan

A group of the most active rioters in the Vladikavkaz colony was transferred to a correctional facility in Dagestan.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 15, riots broke out in a colony in North Ossetia, accompanied by a fire. The Russian Federal Penitentiary Service (known as FSIN) asserts that during searches two prisoners refused to obey the demands of the colony staff and called on other inmates to stage riots. According to investigators, at least 200 prisoners took part in the riots. They occurred a week after the appointment of a new head of the North-Ossetia branch of the FSIN, who had toughened the attitude towards prisoners, sources have reported.

Prisoners reported to the anti-torture hotline in jails that the riot were preceded by beatings.

After the riots were suppressed, convicts were split into several groups. A group of 36 the most active rioters were promptly transferred to a colony in Dagestan, the "Osnova" (Basis) outlet reports.
