In Dagestan, FSB detains persons suspected of financing militants

The FSB reports that 14 people suspected of financing Syrian militants were detained in seven regions of Russia, including Dagestan.

According to the FSB, two leaders and six active participants of the “Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami”, an international terrorist organization, banned in Russia by the court, were detained during special operations.

In total, 14 people were detained in seven regions of Russia, whom investigators consider to be involved in the financing of the “Hayat Tahrir al-Sham”*, the FSB reported. “In Moscow, the Republic of Dagestan, the Khabarovsk Territory, the Kurgan, Penza, Ulyanovsk, and Samara Regions detained 14 persons involved in financing the international terrorist organization ‘Hayat Tahrir al-Sham’, banned in Russia, operating in the Syrian Arab Republic,” the TASS quotes today the FSB as reporting.

According to the investigators’ version, the detainees provided militants with money for ideological purposes.
