On October 4-10, 2021, no one fell victim to armed conflict in Northern Caucasus

During the week of October 4-10, 2021, no killed or wounded in the ongoing armed conflict in Northern Caucasus were reported. These are the results of the calculations run by the “Caucasian Knot” based on its own materials and information from other open sources.

On October 4, a case against Rasul Mailubaev and Zagir Yakubov, natives of the Neftekumsk District of the Stavropol Territory, accused of participating in an attack of militant groupings led by Basaev and Khattab on Dagestan in 1999, was transferred to court. The charge has been brought under Part 2 of Article 209 (participation in a gang), Article 279 (active participation in an armed mutiny), and Article 317 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (an attempt on the lives of soldiers).

On October 6, in Rostov-on-Don, the military court found Azamat Aivazov, a 33-year-old native of Buynaksk, guilty of involvement in the ranks of Syrian militants. The man was accused of aiding and abetting terrorism (Part 4 of Article 205.1), participation in an illegal armed formation (IAF) (Part 2 of Article 208), participation in a terrorist organization (Part 2 of Article 205.5), and training in terrorist activities (Article 205.3 of the Criminal Code of Russia). The military court sentenced the resident of Dagestan to 13 years of imprisonment in a high-security penal colony.

Every month, quarter, and every year, the “Caucasian Knot” posts statistics with regard to victims of the armed conflict in the regions of the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) in Section “Northern Caucasus: Statistics of Victims”.
