Kadyrov reacts to Biden's words about LGBT problems in Chechnya

Ramzan Kadyrov has invited the US President, Joe Biden, who called for defending LGBT people's rights in Chechnya, to come to the republic and make sure that there are no sexual minorities and no problems with them in Chechnya.

Speaking at the UN General Assembly, Joe Biden has called to defend the rights of the LGBT minority in Chechnya, Cameroon and anywhere else in the world.

Earlier, in response to the investigation, conducted by the "Novaya Gazeta" about persecutions and killings of people with non-traditional sexual orientation, Chechen authorities stated that if there had been any gays in the region, their relatives would have dealt with them. Russian authorities have supported the republic's leadership by stating that no gays had been found in Chechnya as a result of the conducted check.

Kadyrov reacted to Biden's statement by stating that "the leader of the most problematic and aggressive country in the world has suddenly begun, for absolutely no reason, mentioning Chechnya."

Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the Russian President, has treated Mr Biden's statement as incorrect. "Cameroon is a separate state, while Chechnya is a Russian region. From the viewpoint of political geography, such a statement is incorrect," the "Lenta.ru" has quoted him as saying.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 13 the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial"* declared the brothers, Ismail Isaev and Salekh Magamadov, to be political prisoners. They were prosecuted for criticizing Chechen authorities and being LGBT people.
