Ingush residents accused of aiding and abetting militants
Members of a criminal grouping provided militants with food, transported them in personal cars, and one of the accused stored a pistol.
According to the investigators’ version, in the period from April 2011 to October 2015, the defendants voluntarily helped residents of Ingushetia who were wanted for committing terror acts.
In the autumn of 2015, in the village of Plievo in the Nazran District, one of the defendants got from his acquaintance a Makarov pistol, converted for firing live ammunition, the Investigating Department for Ingushetia of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) reported. The pistol which he stored at home in Magas was found during a search by law enforcers.
According to the investigators’ information, since 1995, illegal armed formations (IAFs) have been operating in Ingushetia. They actively recruit people and involve local residents to provide them with food, transport, and uniforms, and help them to move secretly. Militants set up field camps for recruited fighters and train them there for combat actions against law enforcers.
The “Caucasian Knot” has also reported that in August, investigators suspected a resident of Ingushetia, who was arrested in a case on an attack on policemen and illegal sale of weapons, of transporting members of the armed underground in his car and supplying them with food.
