58 Azerbaijani citizens wait for returning home in Dagestani camp

In two weeks, almost 60 Azerbaijanis gathered in the "Ogonyok" camp located in the Kaitag District, mostly those who urgently need to get home. The Azerbaijani authorities fail to announce the next date for opening the border, the camp tenants interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" have informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Azeri citizens wishing to return to their homeland are accommodated in the territory of the "Ogonyok" children's camp (also know as a temporary accommodation centre – TAC) in the Kaitag District of Dagestan.

As of August 20, the above TAC housed 58 people, including six women and seven children, as Rustam Abduev, the head of the division of engineering and technical measures and priority life support of the Chief Department for Dagestan of the Russian Ministry for Emergencies (MfE), told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The inflow of citizens is small, the camp staff has noted. “By the end of July, there were about 270 people here. Almost all of them were taken out by Azerbaijani authorities in groups within five days," the MfE's official has noted.

Kamran Kamranov, a camp tenant, said that they could not receive information from the Azerbaijani authorities when the next shipment takes place. "It does not depend on Russian authorities; they are ready to let us go as soon as our authorities come to pick us up. But when this happens, we cannot know. It is impossible to get through to them. And here there are elderly people, one is 76 years old, there are those who bear it all hard," he said.
