BBC discloses participation of North-Caucasian native in "Wagner Group"

Militants of the Russian "Wagner" Private Military Company (PMC) are involved in the massacres of civilians during hostilities in Libya, the BBC Russian Service has suggested after publishing information about the participation of a native of Northern Caucasus in PMC's operations. During the above hostilities, up to 1000 "Wagner" PMC fighters were in Libya, former mercenaries have informed.

In November 2018, the BBC Russian Service reported that mercenaries were being trained to be sent to Syria at a training ground in the Krasnodar Territory.

The BBC website has posted proofs of the possible involvement of "Wagner" PMC fighters in the massacres of the civilian population of Libya. The BBC Arab and Russian services gained access to a tablet and documents that had allegedly belonged to Russian mercenaries in Libya who fought on the side of General Khalifa Haftar.

One of the call-signs from the tablet – "Metla" (Broom) – may belong to the 36-year-old citizen of the Russian Federation, Fyodor Metyolkin, a native of Northern Caucasus.

The "Wagner" PMC issues no codes of conduct for its fighters. Sometimes they kill their captured opponents or local residents if they are of no value as informants, a BBC source said.

Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" has reported about the activities of the "Wagner" PMC in various countries and deaths of its fighters there. Thus, in August 2017, information appeared about the deaths in Syria of more than ten natives of Southern Russia, who were fighters of the "Wagner" PMC.
