A number of resonant assassination attempts solved in Dagestan

Dagestan Prosecutor Igor Tkachov has announced today disclosure of the murder of Bitar Bitarov, prosecutor of the town of Buinaksk, committed on the 8th of last August, and attempts on Adilgirej Magomedtagirov (on August 8, 2006, and February 4, 2007).

"A number of suspects have been announced into search for committing the murder and attempt on the minister," Mr. Tkachov has reported and added that "it is not correct to comment on the course of this investigation, since it has been delivered to the Investigatory Department of the Prosecutor-General's Office and is operatively accompanied by the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Russia," the "Gazeta.Ru" reports.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported earlier that in the morning of August 8, 2006, in Buinaksk an assassination attempt was made on Bitar Bitarov, City's Prosecutor. A pre-parked car was exploded along the route of his drive. The Prosecutor was taken to hospital in grave condition, and subsequently died there. The head of the MIA of Dagestan A. Magomedtagirov left for the scene of the crime, however, not far from the settlement of Talgi two explosives blew up on the route of the minister's cortege. Then, the motorcade was shelled from automatic weapons. According to the MIA of the Republic, in the course of the skirmish three militiamen were wounded. The minister remained safe.
