Azerbaijani activist Djalil Zabidov detained

On July 7, in Azerbaijan, policemen detained Djalil Zabidov, a member of the D18 movement; and his whereabouts are still unknown, said Samira Agaeva, a deputy chair of the movement.

According to her information, Zabidov was detained by policemen of the Yardimli District police division. “There is no connection with him for more than 24 hours. We believe that he was detained because of his critical publications in social networks, participation in the campaign under the hashtag #I protest against social injustice, corruption and lawlessness. In last May he was arrested for five months for invented charges of hooliganism," Ms Agaeva told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The deputy chair of the D18 movement believes that there were no grounds for detaining Zabidov.

The Yardimli district police division refused to confirm the activist’s detention and recommended contacting the Azerbaijani Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA). However, the latter refused to give any comments.
