Man living in Dagestan publicly apologizes for photos with girls

A native of Saint Petersburg, living in Dagestan, has posted a video, in which he apologizes to residents of the republic for his photos among girls in shorts, and for his own appearance. Some Instagram users have suggested that the man has been forced to apologize by local fighters for morality.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the practice of public reprimands widespread in Chechnya went far beyond the republic's borders and began taking root in Dagestan. Thus, on May 16, a video appeared on the Internet with apologies of a young man from a Dagestan village for performing a Lezginka dance at a burial site in Derbent; and on June 3, a concrete mixer operator apologized for contaminating a canal in Makhachkala.

In the recent video posted on the Instagram, the man apologized "for the slightly frank photographs amid the Dagestan landscape." In one photo, he stands in a plank, and on his back there's a girl in a top and shorts with bare belly and legs. In the second photo, the young man sits between two girls in shorts.

Let us remind you that in the summer of 2020, the Dagestani Muftiate called on, referring to locals' complaints, guests of the republic to honour local traditions with their behaviour and appearance. The dress code may scare off tourists; and this will affect the population's incomes, local residents concern.
