New manager of Ninotsminda boarding school announces staff cleansing

Of the 40 educators, 19 will go on working at the boarding school, Bishop Yakov, the new head of the boarding school for orphans in Ninotsminda, has explained. He is ready to meet the Ombudsperson, but refused to let inspectors into the boarding school, explaining this by the children's potential psychological trauma.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 6, the court ruled that all the pupils of the boarding school should be distributed among families and family-type shelters. On June 14, the Georgian Catholicos-Patriarch replaced the boarding school manager after the rights defenders' criticism against the former manager, Bishop Spiridon Abuladze.

On June 3, the Georgian Ombudsperson Nino Lomdjariya announced that since 2016, three criminal cases of violence practiced in this establishment and one on rape had been initiated.

"At this stage, 19 educators will remain ... We must protect the children's interests," the "Georgia Online" portal has quoted Bishop Yakov as saying.

Neither the Patriarch nor the Reverend Spiridon will interfere in the affairs of the boarding school, the Bishop has stated, the "InterPressNews" reports.
