Volgograd picketers call the Day of Russia a tragic date

In Volgograd, activists of the "Left-Wing Front" have held three solo pickets criticizing the collapse of the Soviet Union and the adoption of the Declaration of the Sovereignty of the Russian Federation, which is celebrated on June 12.

Anatoly Nikolaenko was the first to picket with a poster "Murder of the Motherland is not a holiday, but a calendar black day". He told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that on June 12, 1990, "the verdict to the USSR was signed."

“What have we become independent of? Of the USSR with its free of charge and free education, free housing and the absence of unemployment in the country? What has this independence given us?” Anatoly Nikolayenko asked.

He was replaced by Tatiana Pedan, the coordinator of the regional branch of the "Left-Wing Front" movement. "In 1990, it was declared that independent Russia would enter the Union of Soviet Republics. But this did not happen; and the authorities abandoned the socialist way. This led to numerous troubles for the people. We have no democracy. The country is under hegemony of one party – the 'United Russia'. No competitors are let into power by them. There are no social guarantees for citizens," Tatiana Pedan has stated.

Nadezhda Vyalova, a pensioner from Verkhnyaya Yelshanka, was the third to picket. She held a poster "Murder of the Motherland is not a holiday, but a calendar black day".
