Resident of Chechen Argun disavows reports of kidnapping and torture

A video has been posted with Akraman Tataev, whose relatives had complained to human rights defenders about his ill-treatment at the division of some power structure. Tataev claims that he has already returned home, and that law enforcers made him no harm. This video has continued the trend of refuting the kidnapping data of people by Chechen law enforcers, while the whereabouts of some of the authors of such appeals remains unknown.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Marem Salamova, the mother of the Argun resident, Akraman Tataev, had turned to the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" with a request to help "in saving her son." She stated that her son had been kidnapped by law enforcers on April 23, was ill-treated, got exhausted and was on the verge of suicide.

Tataev has called the information about his kidnapping and torture to be false. According to his version, he was only detained for half an hour; and didn't want to tell his parents about what had happened; therefore, they lost him.

The young man also urged not to spread information about kidnappings in social networks.

Earlier, there were many other video appeals, in which the alleged victims of kidnappings and torture in Chechnya justified law enforcers. Thus, in April, Magomed Gadaev, deported from France, asked for state protection because of a threat to his life, and when law enforcers took him to Chechnya, he refused from advocates. A video appeared on the Instagram, where Gadaev claimed that he had not been tortured.
