Women and children evacuated from Armenian border village of Khoznavar

The Azerbaijani military personnel advanced deep into Armenia and approached the village of Khoznavar in the Syunik Region. The villagers were left without access to pastures and the nearest source of drinking water. Local men demanded from the authorities to arm them.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported the Armenian authorities announced that since May 12, 250 Azerbaijani military personnel entered the territory of the Syunik and Gegarkunik Regions of Armenia and that some of them left the country on May 18. Azerbaijan claims it is clarifying the border and does not consider the situation a conflict.

The village of Khoznavar came under the direct sight of the Azerbaijani forces. At present, the village is located two kilometres from the Azerbaijani positions, residents of the community note.

According to the “Zangezur” TV Channel, Grair Avanesyan, a resident of the Khoznavar village, said that children and women were evacuated from the village, but “all the men stay in the village and are ready to defend their land.”

The Azerbaijani soldiers took up positions right near the source of drinking water, and “the villagers no longer use the water,” shepherd Vrezh Abramyan emphasizes.
