Russian sappers demine highway in Nagorno-Karabakh

The Martakert-Madagiz village highway and the outskirts of the village have been cleared of explosive items; 15 shells and mines were found and destroyed, the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) has informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported, citing the Russian MoD, that by May 9, sappers had cleared 2104 hectares of territory and more than 650 kilometres of roads in Nagorno-Karabakh. The total number of neutralized explosive items made 25,611.

Let us remind you that on November 24, 2020, while searching for the bodies of the dead near the village of Sugovushan (Madagiz), a mine explosion killed Colonel Babek Samidli, a deputy commander of the corps of the Azerbaijani Army. A Russian peacemaker received shrapnel wounds.

A day earlier, on November 23, an Azerbaijani soldier was killed in a mine explosion near the village of Madagiz; a Russian peacemaker and four employees of the Nagorno-Karabakh's Ministry for Emergencies (MfE) were wounded.
