KGB of South Ossetia responds to protests of Georgian activists

Actions of protest held by activists of the Georgian movement “Strength in Unity” near the border with South Ossetia can provoke border incidents, the KGB of the unrecognized republic warns. David Katsarava, the leader of the Georgian movement “Strength in Unity”, explains that residents of Georgian villages do not feel safe because of the ongoing process of the border demarcation.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that in 2017-2018, activists of the Georgian movement “Strength in Unity” were patrolling the territories of border villages in order to draw public attention to the problem of detention of Georgian citizens and their subsequent placement to a temporary detention facility in Tskhinvali.

The protest actions held by the Georgian activists near the border with South Ossetia create “prerequisites for the emergence of border incidents,” the press service for the South-Ossetian KGB reports.

The KGB of the unrecognized republic holds the Georgian public movement “Strength in Unity” and its leader David Katsarava responsible for the threat of possible border incidents. “Since April 21, David Katsarava has organized a series of protest actions near the state border between South Ossetia and Georgia,” announced the KGB of South Ossetia as quoted by the “Sputnik-Ossetia”.

According to the KGB of the unrecognized republic, the Georgian activists “defiantly violated the border legislation of South Ossetia” and called on local residents to violations.
