Azerbaijani combat engineers report scale of mine clearance within six months

After the autumn aggravation of the Karabakh conflict, 2051 hectares of territory have been already cleared, 18,600 unexploded bombs have been defused, and the road from Fizuli to Shusha has been almost cleared of mines, the authorities of Azerbaijan report.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that the demining work is underway in Nagorno-Karabakh after the combat actions in the autumn of 2020. The mine clearance involves combat engineers from Karabakh and Azerbaijan, as well as the Russian peacekeeping contingent. In April, Azerbaijan claimed that Armenia had failed to provide maps of minefields.

On April 5, Khikmet Gadjiev, the assistant to the President of Azerbaijan, stated that after the escalation of the conflict in 2020, 106 citizens of Azerbaijan were blown up on mines.

Employees of the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) discovered more than 1000 unexploded bombs.

Let us remind you that the authorities of Azerbaijan have banned their citizens from visiting the territories that came under the control of Baku. Both marauders and forced migrants who want to visit their small homeland try to enter the above-mentioned territories.
