Peacemakers report demining farmland in Nagorno-Karabakh

In Nagorno-Karabakh, military engineers have cleared fields and vineyards from unexploded ordnances. In total, 2000 hectares have been demined during the peacemaking mission, the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) has reported.

Nagorno-Karabakh continues its spring field works; peacemakers receive applications from local authorities for demining fields and vineyards, including those that are in areas of active hostilities during the last autumn aggravation of the Karabakh conflict, the Russian MoD has reported today. "People are afraid to work here – bombs and shells were falling, and battles were underway. In order for us to work calmly, we need to clear up the territories," the message quotes Unan Grigoryan, the head of the village of Sos, as saying.

During their peacemaking mission in Nagorno-Karabakh, military engineers have cleared about 2000 hectares of territory of explosives, plus 618 kilometres of roads, the MoD has stated.

Amid the sowing campaign in Nagorno-Karabakh, local residents continue rebuilding their houses, the blogger, David Simonyan, wrote on April 15 in his blog entitled "Nagornye Povoroty" (Upland Turns).
