Two residents of Stavropol Territory accused of bride-abducting

Two residents of Stavropol Territory are accused of abducting a woman from the city of Neftekumsk with the aim of her marriage and kept her by force in a private house in a neighbouring city. The case has been sent to court, the territorial prosecutor's office has informed.

According to investigators, in the afternoon on February 4, 2021, a 33-year-old local resident and his 30-year-old friend kidnapped a 26-year-old woman-resident of Neftekumsk near the office where she worked with the aim of forcing her into marriage. Law enforcers found the abducted woman in the town of Blagodarny on the same day and took her home, investigators have reported. It turned out that she was not going to marry the abductor.

The men are accused of the abduction; one of them has been arrested, the Investigating Department for the Stavropol Territory of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) has reported today.

Let us note here that the imputed article provides for up to 12 years in prison.
