Five persons sentenced for transporting weapons from Karabakh to Armenia

Today, the Armenian Prosecutor’s Office has reported that the court sentenced the people accused of illegal transportation of weapons from Nagorno-Karabakh to Armenia, to 1-4 years of imprisonment.

Five persons were sentenced to various terms of imprisonment for illegal acquisition and transportation of weapons from Nagorno-Karabakh to Armenia. According to the court’s decision, two persons were sentenced to a year of imprisonment, other two persons – to two years of imprisonment, and one more person – to four years of imprisonment, the press service for the Armenian Prosecutor’s Office reports today.

Submachine and machine guns, pistols, bayonet knives, weapons equipped with optical devices, grenade launchers, cartridges of various calibres, grenades, and TNT bombs confiscated from the suspects’ places were intended for use during the combat actions in Nagorno-Karabakh. In most cases, the suspects hid the weapons in cars and tried to transport them to Armenia along the Stepanakert-Goris road. There were attempts to transport weapons from Nagorno-Karabakh to Armenia both during the autumn war and after its end, the Armenian Prosecutor’s Office reports on its official website as translated from the Armenian language by the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent.
