Nikol Pashinyan presents a candidate to become chief of General Headquarters

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan proposes to return Artak Davtyan to the post of the chief of the General Headquarters of the Armenia's Armed Forces. The President of Armenia will consider the application for the appointment of Artak Davtyan within three days, the presidential administration reports.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Onik Gasparyan's term as the chief of the General Headquarters of the Armenia's Armed Forces expired on March 9, since President Armen Sarkisyan did not send a draft decree on the resignation of Onik Gasparyan to the Constitutional Court. Onik Gasparyan went to court with a request to check the legality of his dismissal.

Artak Davtyan has been appointed the chief of the General Headquarters of the Armenia's Armed Forces, since he enjoys an impeccable reputation and has extensive work experience, experts say. He was dismissed in June 2020 after numerous guests attended his son's wedding party in violation of the self-isolation regime.
