Web-site author-protester against price rise arrested in Azerbaijan

On January 13, Bakhtiyar Gadzhiev, creator of the web-site www.susmayaq.biz, was detained in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan.

He spent a night at the police station and on January 14 was sentenced to 12 days of custody by the Narimanovskiy District Court, the Day.Az reports.

Activists of several Azerbaijani youth organizations have already founded the Committee for Defence of arrested Bakhtiyar Gadzhiev's rights, Ramin Gadzhyly, Chairman of the "Dalga" youth movement, told the correspondent of the "Caucasian Knot."

The web-site www.susmayaq.biz registered in Holland has started a sign-in campaign for the appeal to the president of Azerbaijan, which expresses a protest in connection with the decision of the Tariff Council on price rise. On January 10, Azerbaijani Internet-providers blocked this web-site.
