Peacemakers escort pilgrims to monastery in Nagorno-Karabakh
25 pilgrims, accompanied by Russian peacemakers have visited the Amaras Monastery in Nagorno-Karabakh and then returned to Stepanakert.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that peacemakers are helping with the return of refugees to Karabakh. On February 19, the total number of returnees reached 52,700 people.
After the signing of the peace agreement on November 10, 2020, the Amaras Monastery remained in the territory of the Martuni District of Nagorno-Karabakh. There are posts of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces not far from the monastery, the "news.am" reports.
The Amaras is an Armenian monastery founded in the 4th century. The body of Grigoris, the grandson of Gregory the Enlightener, who died a martyr's death around 334 in Albania, is kept at the monastery, the "russia-artsakh.ru" reports.
