"Nida" movement activist arrested in Azerbaijan
Elmir Abbasov, a member of the "Nida" movement, has been arrested for 30 days on charges of illegal drug use. The movement links his arrest with criticism of the authorities in social networks.
"A few days ago, Elmir disappeared. Only today (February 22) it was possible to clarify his fate ... The real reason for Abbasov's arrest is undoubtedly his political and social activities, his critical posts addressed to the country's leadership in social networks and his active civil position," Ulvi Gasanli, a board member of the "Nida" movement, he told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
Let us note here that Abbasov had been detained earlier. Last September, he was detained for taking part in an action against the arrest of the opposition leader, Tofig Yagublu.
