Armenian official arrested for fakes about Karabakh war

Ara Sagatelyan, a former head of staff of the Armenian Parliament, has been arrested within the case of fakes during the aggravation of the Karabakh conflict. The decision to detain his assistant, Mger Avakyan, was declared unlawful; and he was released.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that law enforcers detained Karen Bekaryan, a presenter of the "ArmNews" TV Channel, the above Ara Sagatelyan, Mger Avakyan and Aram Sarkisyan. The latter was arrested within the case of posting information about the battles in Nagorno-Karabakh in a fake account in a social network.

The court has treated the detention of Sagatelyan as unlawful by satisfying his defence's motion, but at the same time satisfied the investigator's demand to arrest him for two months, Akop Enokyan, an advocate, has reported.

Ara Sagatelyan is accused of inciting ethnic, racial or religious hatred, public calls for the use of violence and violation of the rules for publishing information during the martial law regime, the "Sputnik Armenia" reports.

Earlier, the "ArmNews" TV Channel posted on the YouTube an interview with a former Armenian President, Serzh Sargsyan, in which he commented on the "velvet" revolution of 2018, the settlement of the Karabakh conflict and the last autumn war in Nagorno-Karabakh.
