Over past 24 hours, 34 refugees return to Nagorno-Karabakh

Peacemakers have escorted another group of refugees from Armenia to Nagorno-Karabakh. The total number of returnees has made up 52,545 persons, the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) has informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that by February 14, the total number of residents of Nagorno-Karabakh who had returned to their previous residences reached 52,511 persons, including 38 refugees who had returned during the past 24 hours.

Now, another group of returnees made 34 persons, making the total number thereof since November 14, 2020, of 52,545 persons, who have returned to their former residences in Nagorno-Karabakh, the Russian MoD reported at night on February 15 on its website.

Amid the return of residents, there are many in the region who, because of the aggravation of the Karabakh conflict, decided to leave it forever, the blogger, David Simonyan, wrote on February 4 in his blog entitled "Upland Turns: Karabakh" that he runs on the "Caucasian Knot". "How does Stepanakert live now? Someone is rebuilding his house; someone has bought a new car (we have a boom in SUVs), and someone who lost everything has decided to leave the place. A skilled and hardworking person will survive anywhere," the blogger has noting, adding that authorities' poor actions led to the fact that in its development the region was thrown back by several decades.
