Residents of Dagestani settlement of Tarki report detentions

Law enforcers have detained three residents of Tarki who counteracted to drug dealing in the dwelling settlement, locals have stated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 3, 2021, Vali Abduragimov, a 23-year-old resident, who opposed drug dealing, was killed near the Tarki-Tau Mount in Makhachkala. On January 6, in Tarki, during a gathering at which the activist's murder was discussed, a mass brawl broke out, in which Kerim Khairullaev, a native of Makhachkala, was killed. On January 8, local Alims (pandits) decided to evict the family of the suspected killer out of the settlement. Caucasian scholars have treated their decision as unprecedented for Dagestan.

After the Friday namaz (prayer), Tarki hosted an action in memory of the assassinated Abduragimov and Khairullaev. On Saturday, law enforcers came to the settlement and detained three Tarki residents, the "Chernovik" (Draft) weekly writes referring to local residents. According to their version, residents have fought off several detainees; however, three people were taken away by law enforcers. Later, two of them were set free.
