Russia's SAM concerned about compliance of vaccine against coronavirus to Sharia

Experts are checking the composition of the "Sputnik V" coronavirus vaccine for the permissibility of its use from the viewpoint of the Sharia Law, said Aidar Gazizov, the head of the "Halal" Certification Centre.

"This is for the first time we face the study of the vaccine composition. Earlier, we gave conclusions on biologically active dietary supplements (BADS). Partially, we have already received a description of the composition of the vaccine; and experts will make their conclusion and submit it to the Council of Ulems," Mr Gazizov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The Russia's Spiritual Administration of Muslims (SAM) is preparing a fatwa on the halal nature of the "Sputnik V" coronavirus vaccine. The fatwa details will be known after a roundtable under the auspices of the Russia's Council of Muftis of Muslims' vaccination scheduled for the middle of the coming week, said Dilyara Akhmetova, the head of the press service of the Russian SAM.
