Armenia presents new death toll in Nagorno-Karabakh
Employees of the forensic medical examination service have conducted examinations of the bodies or remains of 3360 military servicemen, who perished in Nagorno-Karabakh. Also, more than 2500 forensic genetic examinations have been conducted, Arsen Torosyan, the Armenian Minister of Public Health, wrote on December 4 in his Facebook page.
The country's authorities intend to launch the second genetic analyzer, the Minister has added. "The second analyzer is already in Armenia; and it will start working in the coming days. Before that, forensic genetic identification was conducted by using old and inaccurate devices," wrote Minister Torosyan, adding that the identification of the militaries' remains is complicated by a number of problems in the forensic medical examination. "In 2018, the Armenian government bought so far the only genetic analyzer now used in the country, with which we have managed to identify the bodies of 461 dead military servicemen," the Minister has explained.
