Russian MoD ignores funeral held for a peacekeeper deceased in Karabakh

Alexander Ivanov, who was a member of the Russian peacekeeping contingent in Nagorno-Karabakh, has been buried in Bashkortostan today. The Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) did not report about his death.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 18, during demining operations near Shushi, a Russian officer, a combat engineer of the International Mine Action Centre, was fatally injured.

The Proufu102ru YouTube channel posted the video entitled "The deceased peacekeeper was buried in Bashkiria". In the video, dozens of people are standing in a snow-covered cemetery near a freshly dug grave. The black coffin is being lowered to the grave under the sound of the Russian anthem performed by the military band and the firing of submachine guns over the grave paying tribute to the deceased peacekeeper.

According to sources, Alexander Ivanov died as a result of a fall of military equipment in a gorge. The sources note he was not the only victim of the accident, the "Pro Ufu" website reports today.

As of 3:32 p.m. Moscow time on December 24, the website of the Russian MoD contains no information about the death of Alexander Ivanov. The "Caucasian Knot" has no information concerning the accident involving Russian military equipment in Nagorno-Karabakh.
